"SAY WHAT?!", Jenny From The Block?

  • Mood: Jenny
  • Music: Jenny

Hello my pretties, just discovered this nifty little space on the LURM website! (Okay, tbh, Aly was talking about it and if not for her, I would have never come across this site)

It's post-LURM and I'm feeling pretty super! LURM is fantastic, not only do I look forward to catching up with friends and lose a bit of weight, I find that I can always take something meaningful out of the devotions.

For this month's LURM (May), Vinh talked about the true meaning of 'fellowship' based on the official LURM bible verse from 1 John 1:7. When we have fellowship, we spend quality time with one another and bonding takes place. When Christians have fellowship, there is 'bondage' but it is bonding out of love, God's love. Vinh pointed out that as Christians, we may find it difficult to have Christian-like fellowship with our Non Christian friends outside the comfort of a church environment. But sometimes, being the total humans we are, we think that we can manage as we struggle to have fellowship with others, without the help of our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ. It doesn't work that way. To demonstarte the foolishness of such mentality, Vinh told this story:

One day, a man thought about sharing the word of God with non Christians without having to go to church. He felt that he didn't need the help from his Christian friends and that he was strong enough to do it on his own. He decided to take it up with his Pastor by visiting his house.

Once inside, the Pastor directed him to sit across from him, in front of a fireplace. The firewood was ablaze and the men stared at it for a while.

The man then spoke about his 'thought' as the Pastor listened. Without saying anything, the Pastor got up and picked up a pair of tongs. He used the tongs to pick out a piece of wood, burning from the fireplace. The Pastor set the burning piece of wood aside. He watched the piece of wood as he got back to his seat.

Together, the men watched the piece of wood flicker and burn. Slowly, the piece of wood turned black and the fire was gone.

Afterwards, the Pastor picked up the piece of burnt wood using the tongs and placed it back into the fire, where it set ablaze again.

A moment later the man said, "That was the best sermon I've ever heard."

--

Just like that piece of wood, Christians cannot go have a burning fire for God on their own. We cannot go out and do 'our thing' for God on our own. We need to stick together, have fellowship with one another, be there for each other. That is what LURM is for. Sure, there's fun & games but that's not the sole reason there is a LURM. It's so we can keep connected, stay in touch and spend quality bondage time! That's fellowship during the good times.

But what about the times we're down in the dumps? That's when fellowship is at its best. When we feel angry or sad, having fellowship brings light into our darkest moments. Times like those truly bond a relationship. A friendship based on good times is fragile. Inevitably, a rough time with come and the friendship will not last.

'Tis the greatness of LURM. Thanks to Vinh's devo, LURM is so much more meaningful to me. (And I'm sure this applies to everyone who was there tonight.) I sincerely hope everyone has a good think about the meaning of 'fellowship' and that we all practice it!

May we keep each other in our prayers,

Jenny.

P.S. A very big thank you to Andrew, Ook and Robert. Without you, LURM would not be possible. Your time and effort is very much appreciated and has not gone to waste. I would like to express my gratitude through this keyboard heart: <3

FLAMINGO!=]

I was reading the Bible and came across a passage with the title, “The Prayer of Faith”.

“Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.” [James 5:16]

It is very important that we pray for our B.A.S.I.Cs constantly and not just once. Do not think that because you’ve prayed for the person already, you do not need to anymore. Definitely not Lurmers.

I was thinking about how we have ‘small groups’ after the short devo/talk and how we pray for one another at the end.

Do not think it’s because it is another activity to do. I believe it’s a time where we think of others and lift our worries, concerns and praises to God.

Well what I’m trying to say is…I like how we have small groups =] It’s a great way to have fellowship time too.

Remember:

PRAYER IS POWERFUL!

God bless!

Omg IT’S pig, pig ALY again =]

LURM², LURM², LURM² LURM² was a blast! I decided to write another blog =] Well I got home at 11:20PM! Yes, that’s pretty late. But, no, I did not get into trouble. Pheww.

Oh that’s right! I wanted to blog because in the van going home, Ook wanted me to mention Thuy…I repeat Thuy…getting hit in the face with a ball AGAIN! LOL. That was mean. I’m sorry Thuy >_<”

Anyway, peeps don’t you think Andy, Ook and Robo did another fantastic job? I think YES. I know YES! You guys are just too awesome! (Woah..strong compliment from mwa. Be ever so priviledged!!!)

I helped out in a few games and might I say, it was so FUN! Fruit Salad was hilarious and “pig, pig, aly”…..ZOMGSHHHH *rolls eyes* It was meant to be called: ROOSTER, ROOSTER, FLAMINGO!...Geezz.

The  iLURM’08 WRISTBANDS are so HOTT! I bought the purple and white one=] The glow-in-the-dark one was pretty cool *Ook agrees* If you haven’t bought one, I strongly suggest you ask one of the leaders before they’re all gone! *shock horror* I hear the glow-in-the-dark ones are all SOLD OUT!

New-comers! I hope you had an enjoyable night and come again! It’s amazing to see LURM² grow =]

MS Thien’s short devotion/talk (Matthew 7:24-27)

Jesus says that that those who put into practice what Jesus tells/teaches us is like a wise man, but those who do not are foolish. So fellow Lurmers, when you go to Church or read your Bible, don’t just think of it as a routine or because you’re forced to. Tell others what you have learnt from the man who gave up his life for you and show your friends through your words and actions that Christ lives in you. Praise God!

Small groups were a great way to socialize, pray for one another and make friends =] (For those who don’t have many like me. LOL)

Sorry this blog is long…eep. I could go on! Ahaha

Ppl if you have a passion to blog for Lurm, send it to kingsgrove_lurm_2006@yahoo.com.au. The leaders would love to hear your insight and comments. There’s the tag board too!

Oh and check my FB (facebook) for Lurm pics!

Tc Lurmers! Don’t forget to put into practice what you learn about the Lord. May God bless yall and remember to continue praying for one another!

"Vicissitude"

It is 21st April 08 and the time is 9:58 pm. It is ALY here <3

This is like my first blog ever. How like totally exciting! Okay, this is how it started: I was talking to Randy (Andrew) who was appearing offline and he asked me to blog for the LURM page. I’m full asking him these questions and yes it lead to here. He gave me a challenge to use the word “vicissitude” in the blog 2 times. So I checked the dictionary first of course.

From the Macquarie School Dictionary-

Vicissitude (say vuh-sis-uh-tyoohd) noun

1. a change, or something different, occurring in the course of something

That’s not too hard I thought, so yeps I accepted the challenge! Okay I will count that as using the word once (even though it was twice).

OHHHH sidetracked! YES LURM! Count down…3 days till LURM! ZOMGSHHH I just can’t wait! It is gonna be heaps fun as usual!

I wanna give a HUGEEEEEEEE shout out to ANDREW NGUYEN, ROBERT CHAU and OOK TONG! You guys have done an EXTRAORDINARY job with LURM….I mean LURM 2(that’s a squared). It may not mean much by I am soo proud of u guys! I am also totally sure that so many other people are too! THANK YOU! May God bless you and reward you for your selfless actions and for giving up your time so that us lurmers can have the most enjoyable night of fellowship and praise God at the same time! *tearrrr* I also hope that those who go to Lurm will grow spiritually in their walk with the Lord =]

Hmmm yes….I can’t wait!!! It’s true…

LURM IS LEGENDARY!

Goshhh I still can’t use the word vicissitude. It’s hard! Oh wells…I used it just then! I can’t really put it into a sentence…it doesn’t work!

Ummm I think I can stop blogging now..I think.. Errr

HOPE TO SEE YALL @ LURM!

B.A.S.I.C’s continue to pray for each other throughout the week and don’t forget to give up your time for God! You wanna continue to build that relationship with Him and let it strengthen through time.

God bless fellow lurmers!

You know you love me,
